WIREC 2008

WIREC 2008, the ministerial-level Washington International Renewable Energy Conference at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC was held on March 4-6, 2008. The parallel event, The Trade Show and Business Conference at WIREC 2008 was the largest business conference and exposition ever held on renewable energy and related fields in the U.S.

The N5T Sustainable Energy Network was represented at WIREC 2008 Trade Show. As the only organization among the 150 exhibitors N5T presented education as its core offer and focused on the presentation of the Nordic M.Sc. Program in Innovative Sustainable Energy Engineering. However, the entire portfolio of N5T M.Sc. Programs within the Sustainable Energy field was also marketed.

The goal was to signal the importance of research based education as an essential part of the future change in world energy generation based on sustainable principles and technologies.

International University Forum on Renewable Energy Research and Education

Delegates from Virginia Tech, University of Maryland, Baylor University and governmental research institutions and education agencies met with the N5T delegates and were informed about N5T activities. An open dialog between Scandinavian, European and American universities and agencies was established. The topics were best practice in education and research and within commercialization of new technologies in renewable energy.
